Book Review 1-5 ‘THE FIREBOY’

This time, I read “THE FIREBOY”.
The hero of this novel is Hapu. Hapu lives in Ancient Egypt at the time of Queen Cleopatra. Hapu lives with his father. Father’s name is Bak. Bak makes gold tables and chairs. Hapu is a “Fire Boy” because he pushes a long handle up and down everyday. Bak and Hapu are very poor, so they need to make money. Bak wishes that Bak and Hapu are going to be very rich one day. Three days later Hapu and Bak are making a table. Suddenly Bak stops work. He closes his eyes, and he falls on the ground. The reason can not understand. Hapu is very anxious. The next day Bak is in bed. Bak want to work, but he can not work. They need more money. Hapu thinks that I must work to be rich. “I must make something for somebody very rich. Somebody like the Queen, ” Hapu thinks. Bak has been ill for two weeks. In that time Hapu works very hard. Hapu makes a gold necklace to sell. Hapu thinks that Queen Cleopatra likes this necklace, and he thinks that she is going to buy it by much money. The next morning Hapu goes to cleopatra‘s palace. Hapu is stoped by guard. He wants to see Queen Cleopatra, but he can not do it. He goes back to the home. Hapu passes by the market. Hapu hears that Cleopatra comes here tomorrow morning. Hapu thinks that this is very good news. The next day Hapu gets up very early, and he goes to market. Hapu wants to sell a gold necklace to Queen. He waits and waits. A long time later the Queen comes from the palace. Four men are carrying a very beautiful chair. The Queen is sitting in it. Suddenly everyone is very quiet. Hapu runs in front of Queen’chair. Hapu gives the Queen the necklace. The Queen likes the necklace, and she gives some money to Hapu. Hapu goes back to the home, and Hapu tells his father everything. Bak thanks for Hapu. Hapu is very happy. That night guards of Cleopatra goes to Hapu’s house because Cleopatra likes Hapu ’s work. Cleopatra wishes that Hapu works in palace. Hapu can not leave Bak. Hapu goes to the palace. Cleopatra is wearing Hapu’s necklace. Cleopatra wishes that Hapu works in palace. Hapu tells that he can not do it. Hapu wishes that he lives with his father. Cleopatra receives Hapu’s feelings, and she tells that Hapu must work only for Cleopatra in his house. Hapu is very happy.

I think that Hapu is very gentle men. I look up to Hapu because hapu is courageous boy. I follow hapu example. I learned many things from this novel.
