☆New Year's Day☆

We greeted the New Year. Today is New Year's Day.

This is picture of Osechi Ryouri. I took the picture of Osechi Ryouri before breakfast. My mother cooked Osechi Ryouri yesterday. I ate Osechi Ryouri and Zoni for breakfast this morning. They were very delicious.

Most Japanese eat Zoni and Osechi Ryouri on New Year's Day. Zoni and Osechi Ryouri are traditional foods. The foods which are put in Osechi Ryouri have meaning. For example, sea bream is auspicious fish for Japanese, so it is put in Osechi Ryouri. A roll of tang containing dried fish simmered in sweetened soy sauce mean joy. Herring-roe and taro are put in Osechi Ryouri in order to wish for prosperity of descendants. Mashed sweet potatoes containing sweetened chestnuts is auspicious food because it is said that it raise luck with money, so it is put in Osechi Ryouri. Shrimp is put in Osechi Ryouri in order to wish for a long life. Black soybeans are put in Osechi Ryouri in order to wish for health. Lotus root is put in Osechi Ryouri in order to be able to foresee the future. The wishes of Japanese for the New Year are included in Osechi Ryouri. Osechi Ryouri and Zoni are made to wish for good health and prosperity of the New Year.

New Year's cards are a very important thing to exchange New Year’s greetings, so most Japanese send them to relatives and friends and acquaintances. My family got many New Year's cards.

I went to shrine for worship. I went to shopping mall, and I bought a coat.

Tomorrow, My cousin come to my house to exchange New Year's greetings.

rice cakes

My grandparents pounded steamed rice into rice cake. My cousin came to my house to help it. I like rice cakes very much. I ate bean jam rice cake. I like soybean flour rice cake.
Rice cakes is put in Zoni. Zoni is traditional food, and it is special food for New Year. Zoni is a kind of the soup. However, the shape of the rice cake and ingredients of Zoni and seasoning of soup are different in each region. Zoni is made to celebrate New Year. My mother cook Zoni in New Year's Day. I like Zoni which my mother cooked.

I want to eat a lot of rice cakes.

I read “The Bookstore VALENTINE”.

Mr. Brown sold only ghost books in his bookstore. He had a cat. His cat's name was Cobweb. Cobweb played with mice. They got along well. One day, Mr. Brown held Valentine's Day sale in his bookstore. However, the sale made him busy. He decided to hire someone. A lady came to the bookstore. Her name was Miss Button. He decided to hire her. He thought that she was very perfect because she liked cats and cheese. He and Cobweb liked cheese very much. He took a fancy to her. However, he could not tell his feelings. Miss Button also took a fancy to him. Therefore, Cobweb and mice united their force. Mr. Brown and Miss Button was able to know each other's feelings by the help of Cobweb and mice. They spent Valentine's Day.

I changed confectionery with my friends on Valentine's Day when I was a high school student. I baked cookies, and I gave cookies to my friends. I liked eating the confectionery which I had got from my friends.

This book was very interesting.
