☆New Year's Day☆

We greeted the New Year. Today is New Year's Day.

This is picture of Osechi Ryouri. I took the picture of Osechi Ryouri before breakfast. My mother cooked Osechi Ryouri yesterday. I ate Osechi Ryouri and Zoni for breakfast this morning. They were very delicious.

Most Japanese eat Zoni and Osechi Ryouri on New Year's Day. Zoni and Osechi Ryouri are traditional foods. The foods which are put in Osechi Ryouri have meaning. For example, sea bream is auspicious fish for Japanese, so it is put in Osechi Ryouri. A roll of tang containing dried fish simmered in sweetened soy sauce mean joy. Herring-roe and taro are put in Osechi Ryouri in order to wish for prosperity of descendants. Mashed sweet potatoes containing sweetened chestnuts is auspicious food because it is said that it raise luck with money, so it is put in Osechi Ryouri. Shrimp is put in Osechi Ryouri in order to wish for a long life. Black soybeans are put in Osechi Ryouri in order to wish for health. Lotus root is put in Osechi Ryouri in order to be able to foresee the future. The wishes of Japanese for the New Year are included in Osechi Ryouri. Osechi Ryouri and Zoni are made to wish for good health and prosperity of the New Year.

New Year's cards are a very important thing to exchange New Year’s greetings, so most Japanese send them to relatives and friends and acquaintances. My family got many New Year's cards.

I went to shrine for worship. I went to shopping mall, and I bought a coat.

Tomorrow, My cousin come to my house to exchange New Year's greetings.
